Summary:
The Wonderlab: Bramall Gallery located at the National Railway Museum in York
was opened in July 2023 and features eighteen hands-on interactives that aim to ignite and empower the curious minds of young engineers through the use of STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics).
The interactives are designed to be playful in nature, allowing visitors to learn through creativity, problem solving, and experimentation.
As part of the design team at Unusual Projects, I worked closely with the client team to develop their initial concepts into functional interactives that met their criteria for: learning objectives, gameplay experience, materiality, aesthetics, and build quality.
Once the concepts were approved we then moved onto the detail design phase, where I helped to flesh out the 3D models for each interactive and to produce technical shop drawings and CNC files that went onto form the final build.
